As
part of its Water Wisdom Program, SMWD will present educational Home
Gardeners Water Conservation Workshops. This program will cover
landscape sprinkler systems, landscape plants, and just added,
residential water audits.
Workshop I: Landscape Sprinkler Systems
Saturday, July 21, 8:30 a.m. to noon.
This
class looks at design and maintenance principles of both overhead
sprinklers and drip systems. This includes pressure, uniformity,
pipe material, fittings, and maintenance.
Workshop II:
Residential Water Audits
Saturday, August 25, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30
This small class is designed to evaluate water consumption
on an individual’s single family home. Historical monthly
consumption will be evaluated with regard to the number of occupants
living in the home and irrigation practices. Class size will be
limited to 15 homes initially, will be conducted in a group setting,
and is limited to single family homes with irrigation requirements.
Workshop III: Landscape Plants
Saturday,
September 22, 8:30 a.m. to noon.
This
plant identification and plant use class covers 25 common and useful
plants that are drought tolerant, and provides an in-depth look into
which plants work best in the garden.
Workshop I and III will be limited to the first 50 attendees and
lunch will be provided. Workshop II will be limited to 15 attendees
