LEAK DETECTION
Your water meter can help you find leaks as well as inform
you how much water you have used. To check for leaks,
turn off all faucets and water-using devices (such as
dishwashers, washing machines).Make a mark on the location
of the sweep hand.Wait 15 minutes and look at the dial
again. If the sweep hand has moved, you have water being
used which may represent a leak somewhere on your property.

The triangle above is a low flow indicator
and is found on all of our newer meters. It also helps
to detect plumbing leaks. The indicator rotates when even
a small amount of water passes through the meter.
Prevent water loss and save money by checking for water
leaks inside/outside of your home with the following:
| |
Running toilets (even slow ones)—Place
a dye tablet or a few drops of food coloring into
the toilet tank. If color appears in the bowl without
flushing, there is a leak that should be repaired. After
concluding your leak test,be sure to flush toilet
to remove food coloring.

Fix leaky faucets and plumbing
joints —Worn washers are a common cause of water
leaks. If the faucet drips after it's been turned
off firmly, usually the washer is worn and needs to
be replaced.

Sprinkler controllers —Sprinkler
controller/timers should be reviewed/modified on a
monthly basis. Test system to check run times, look
for leaky valves & broken sprinkler heads and
adjust sprinkler heads that are misaligned (irrigating
the sidewalk or patio). |
