SMWD offers free Water Education Assemblies to students who attend elementary schools located in the SMWD service area through the Discovery Science Center and the regional family of water agencies. These assemblies are grade-specific and align with the California State Science Content Standards.

Local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and homeschool students age ten and up are being offered tours of Santa Margarita Water District's Chiquita Water Reclamation Plant. The plant treats wastewater from homes in the region and prepares it to be reused to irrigate parks and golf courses. The tour is a great opportunity for children and youth to learn first-hand about:
