Chiquita Water Treatment Plant Tours
Bring your scout group or homeschool students to experience real-world science for themselves

Local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and homeschool students age ten and up are being offered tours of Santa Margarita Water District’s Chiquita Water Reclamation Plant. The plant treats wastewater from homes in the region and prepares it to be reused to irrigate parks and golf courses. The tour is a great opportunity for children and youth to learn first-hand about:

  • What happens to the water they use after it goes down the drain
  • How wastewater gets from their home to the treatment plant
  • How water is treated to be used as recycled water
  • How to conserve water every day

Plus, students will receive a water education booklet, pencil, bookmark and other fun stuff!
