The Upper Chiquita Reservoir is included in the South Orange County Natural Community Conservation Plan allowing for proactive management of habitat resources in the area.

Thanks to careful planning, the Upper Chiquita Reservoir is sensitive to the environment around the new facility.

The Upper Chiquita Reservoir site was chosen because placement of the project in this location will result in no significant view, air quality, traffic or noise impacts for the nearby neighborhoods of Las Flores and Wagon Wheel. Additionally, sensitive local habitat around the reservoir has already been included in the South Orange County Natural Community Conservation Plan, a holistic approach to local habitat conservation and wildlife preservation that was prepared under the guidance of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish & Game.
