SANTA MARGARITA WATER DISTRICT DIRECTOR RESIGNS FROM ORANGE COUNTY LAFCO

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA (April 10, 2019) – Santa Margarita Water District Director, Charley Wilson, today announced his resignation from the Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission (“OCLAFCO”).  Director Wilson has served on the Commission since 2000.

In announcing his resignation, Director Wilson said that he had enjoyed the honor and privilege of serving the County and working on important issues of governance over the years.

Wilson has been the Executive Director of the Southern California Water Coalition since 2016.  That organization has grown and developed and is successfully addressing water policy throughout all of southern California with a particular focus on the state-wide issue of the California Water Fix given its potential impact on the southern region.

Wilson noted that the success in this water policy area (coupled his private consulting practice) has created challenges of focus that require him to resign from OC LAFCO at this time.

Director Wilson has had a long career in public policy around energy, water, and water resource development.  The importance of water issues has become more critical in recent years; the Southern California Water Coalition has been instrumental in pursuing information and education programs as well as legislation that addresses the region’s unique needs.

Director Wilson’s resignation is effective immediately.
