The Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the San Juan Watershed Project is available on the project website at sanjuanwatershed.com. The lead agency, Santa Margarita Water District will consider the Final EIR for certification on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 a.m. at their regularly scheduled Board meeting in Rancho Santa Margarita.

The EIR is a critical component of the San Juan Watershed Project and required prior to building the project. It is estimated that Phase 1 of the project may begin in 2020.

The San Juan Watershed Project has the capacity to provide 5.6 billion gallons of local, reliable water to South Orange County residents. This is enough water for 50,000 families each year.
